Why 'Sueyonce' changed her name to Nyambura

With a name like ‘Sueyonce’ that even the
judges found hard to pronounce, it was
quite apparent that Beyonce was her
ultimate inspiration, but her first
Impression during the auditions left
Kenyans stunned as many almost felt
convinced that she would be this season’s
drama queen.
After making it into the Academy, 22 year
Susan Nyambura whose initial name was
Sueyonce opted to shuffle up her strategy
and get back closer home by changing her
name to Nyambura, a name that her
Kenyan fans would resonate with.
“I realized that I needed something
that Kenyans would identify with, and
that would portray my Nyeri County
(NYC) roots. That is how I settled for
my second name Nyambura. ” She told
SDE.
After singing Atemi Oyungu’s ‘Simple girl’
rendition in last week’s show she
successfully made it past probation.
Additionally, the faculty applauded her
with Principle Eric Wainaina even saying
that she was his mother’s favorite
contestant.
“Great work and keep representing
NYC (Nyeri County)” Eric Wainaina told
her after the performance.
