Nairobi - The Coalition for Reform and
Democracy (Cord) have made a
unanimous decision to support the
deferral of the ICC cases against
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his
Deputy, William Ruto.
Cord made the decision during a
meeting that was graced by opposition
leader Raila Odinga in Nairobi Tuesday,
The Star reports, where they rubbished
the motion to withdraw from the Rome
Statute.
The AU had already written to the UN
Security Council seeking to have Uhuru's
trials deferred after the ICC declined to
grant a similar request.
Jubilee government has been lobbying
for the deferment of the cases till
Uhuru’s term as president expires, or to
have the cases referred back to Africa.
