Friday October 25, 2013 - MPs associated with Orange Democratic Movement
(ODM) have sensationally stated that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s foul language
to the International Criminal Court (ICC) is the one that made his Deputy,
William Ruto, lose his appeal from excusal for continuous hearing at The Hague
based Court.
Speaking moments after the
Appeals Chamber ruled that Ruto must attend all his trials on Friday, ODM
members were up in arms on Uhuru saying he was the main cause of Ruto’s
predicaments at the ICC.
They said were it not for Uhuru
Kenyatta using his foul mouth to condemn the ICC, the ICC Appeals Chamber would
have granted Ruto the request of being tried in absentia
During last week’s AU Heads
of State meeting in Addis Ababa, President Uhuru Kenyatta launched scathing
attacks to the ICC saying “it is a toy of declining imperial powers”.
The leaders said the
assertion of Uhuru in the AU meeting may have irked the ICC judges and Ruto may
be one of the victims of Kenyatta - ICC fallout.
